Sweet potato, quinoa, oats superfoods vegan dog food recipe

This wonderfully healthy, and tasty recipe is a perfect addition to every vegan dog food diet. Cook up a large batch of this and feed it to your dog every day.

  • Preparation Time: 10 minutes

  • Cooking Time: 30 minutes

  • Servings: 12 cups (1.8kg)

Ingredients:

  • 1.75 litres of water

  • 3 medium sweet potatoes cut into cubes

  • 450g peanut butter

  • 150g lentils (red or green, split or whole)

  • 100g oats

  • 75g quinoa

  • 200ml apple cider vinegar

  • 120ml unsweetened 100% cranberry juice (or 50g of dried unsweetened cranberries)

  • 75ml coconut oil

Cooking Directions:

  1. Add water to a large saucepan (4 litre+ should be fine) and bring to the boil.

  2. When the water is boiling, add the oats, quinoa, lentils, and sweet potato (add dried cranberries at this point if using instead of cranberry juice) and bring to the boil again.

  3. Once boiling, reduce heat to a simmer and cook contents for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and mix in the coconut oil, cranberry juice (if using instead of dried cranberries), apple cider vinegar, and peanut butter and mix thoroughly.

  5. Let the food cool then serve to your dog.

  6. Store remaining food in airtight containers in your fridge (for up to 5 days) or in your freezer and thaw as necessary.

We would strongly recommend adding a specialised dog food supplement to ensure that all of your dog's nutrient requirements, including amino acids, vitamins and minerals, are being met and that their vegan diet is complete and balanced.

Alternatively, you could add this home cooked vegan food to a premium vegan dog food in a 30/70 split to ensure they are getting the very best nutrition possible.
